Frequently Asked Questions

What is your availability?  Currently (Fall 2022 semester): All after-school slots are all full. Please contact me if you'd like to be placed on the waiting list. I do have limited availability between 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, depending on the day.

What can I expect?  Weekly lessons, a recital each semester, and monthly studio classes where students connect and perform for their peers. Most of my students participate in adjudicated events, festivals, and recitals hosted by the TMTA

I am a committed teacher with a creative and eclectic approach. Lessons always include lots of student time at the piano, but we may also sing, clap, dance, do ear training exercises, take dictation, improvise together -- whatever best helps the student to internalize the concepts being taught.

Can parents stay in the room?  Parents are welcome to observe the lesson. Please silence your electronic devices if you do stay.

Do you have a minimum age for students you’ll teach?  I’ll accept ages 5 and older, generally.  Students’ hands need to be able to bridge 5 adjacent white keys comfortably, and they need the ability to sit and focus for short periods.

Do you teach adults?  Yes!  Whether you are returning to the piano as an adult, or have never played before, I am ready to work with you.

Where are you located?  I teach from my home in the Shannon Forest subdivision of the Killearn Estates neighborhood, in Tallahassee, FL.

Can we meet with you to learn more before we commit?  Yes, absolutely. Please contact me to schedule a time.
